Turkish Super Lig: Super Eagles’ Omeruo in action as Kasimpasa secure draw against Pendikspor

Kenneth Omeruo recently completed the move to Turkey with Kasimpasa this summer after spending the last five seasons with Spanish side CD Leganes

Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo, was in action to help Kasimpasa play a 1-1 draw against Pendikspor in their Super Lig home tie on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 29-year-old returned to the Turkish club last month after two previous loan spells between 2015 and 2018. He has since seamlessly settled into the club by making two consecutive league appearances.

His latest appearance for the Apaches came today at the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadyumu, where the club fought back to claim a draw against Pendikspor.

Kemal Ozdes’ side has been one of the most in-form teams in this new season after going through their first two games undefeated but found their unbeaten record tested in the game.

On the stroke of halftime, Paraguay International Oscar Romero gave the away side the lead from the penalty spot to net for his club in consecutive matches.

Pendikspor were on the front foot again after the restart but failed to convert their numerous chances, which came begging either by a remarkable save from keeper Andreas Gianniotis or a player falling short of keeping the ball on target.

Despite all the pressures from the away side, Kasimpasa scored the next goal in the 81st minute from Brazilian right-back Claudio Winck.

The Apaches held on to claim a hard-fought draw that ensured they gathered five points in three league matches this new season.

Omeruo, however, played his consecutive 90 minutes in the match to help his club find a new balance in defense that has conceded only a goal in his two appearances.

The former Chelsea defender will aim to play another part in Nigeria’s next Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) fixture against São Tomé and Príncipe next month, featuring in three of the country’s qualifiers so far.
