Kelechi Iheanacho has been heavily linked with a move back to the Premier League following Leicester City’s relegation from the English top flight last term
Crystal Palace’s proposal to sign Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho stalls over the £18m price tag placed on him by Leicester City, Soccernet.ng reports.
The English Premier League side are looking to add more attackers to their ranks and they see the Nigerian forward as a strong option to bolster their squad.
Roy Hodgson’s side have scored two goals in their opening three Premier League games, although they did fight back from 2-0 down to claim a 4-2 victory over Championship side Plymouth in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Palace are now pushing for the 26-year-old striker and would be ready to pay between £10-15m with add-ons.
Leicester City’s demand of £18m is stalling the negotiations, however, but Iheanacho is keen on the move, as reported by Sky Germany‘s Florian Plettenberg.
The former Manchester City star has played in all of the Championship side’s first few matches played so far this season, scoring a goal and 2 assists to help Leicester claim a perfect 6 wins from 6 games.
He has managed 56 goals in 211 appearances in all competitions in his seven years at the club since joining from Manchester City for £25m in 2017.
Meanwhile, the move depends on if they sell Jean Phillipe Mateta to RB Leipzig. Palace would need to sell the Frenchman to raise the funds for Iheanacho or Che Adams, another striker from the relegated side who has been catching their interest.
Iheanacho is considered important to the Foxes’ bid to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
With his contract set to expire next summer, the East Midlands are aware they might need to cut-price deal in this window to avoid losing for nothing at the end of the season.
