Taiwo Awoniyi extends his scoring streak to seven consecutive EPL matches, having found the net within the first two minutes against Manchester United
Nottingham Forest icon, Steve Hodge, has heaped praise on Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi following his impressive performance at Old Trafford, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian star continued to showcase his skills with yet another outstanding display marked by his speed and power by opening the scoring for Steve Cooper’s men in a thrilling six-goal match against Manchester United, stunning the home fans.
The former Union Berlin star, Awoniyi, capitalized on a ball from a corner kick, penetrating the heart of the Red Devils’ defense and slotting it past Andre Onana just two minutes into the game.
Following Willy Boly’s goal that increased the deficit to two, the team managed by Ten Hag woke up and mounted a comeback, resulting in a 3-2 loss for Forest at Old Trafford.
Despite the loss, Hodge singled out Awoniyi for his impressive performances against Manchester United.
“Absolutely extraordinary. He’s been so good but I thought he was going to take too long. The defender was getting back and in the end, he’s done something really clever. It’s really clever forward play because he almost just waits and then sticks it in the net,” he said.
Nottingham is set to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their next weekend fixture, aiming to bounce back from their defeat against Manchester United.
