NPFL unveils new kickoff dates amidst App development and stadium trials

The eagerly anticipated 2023/2024 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season resumption has been postponed, Soccernet.ng reports.

The league campaign, initially slated to kick off on August 26th, is now scheduled to commence between September 8th and 10th, as confirmed by league officials.

The decision to delay the resumption by two weeks has been attributed to critical factors that require careful attention.

Firstly, the preparation of the NPFL Live App, a digital platform set to revolutionize the viewing experience for football enthusiasts, necessitates additional time for refinement.

League authorities are determined to ensure that this innovative app is fully equipped to deliver an immersive and seamless experience for fans.

Furthermore, ongoing preparations involving camera tests and training sessions at different stadiums across the league contribute to the postponement. These trials are instrumental in guaranteeing the optimal broadcasting quality that viewers deserve.

One noteworthy development is that the continental clubs participating in the league will kick-start the season alongside the remaining 16 clubs. This move aims to create an electrifying start to the season, drawing heightened anticipation from supporters and pundits alike.

The draw ceremony for the forthcoming season is scheduled to take place in Lagos on Thursday, August 17. This event promises to unveil the fixtures and matchups that fans eagerly await.

The NPFL Live App, a joint effort between the NPFL Board and their partners, is gearing up to make its mark on the football landscape.

With the capacity to broadcast over 300 games during the upcoming season, this platform is poised to become an indispensable companion for fans hungry for matchday action.

In a historic feat, Enyimba International of Aba, under the stewardship of former Super Eagles winger George Finidi, clinched the league title last season.

Their triumph marked the club’s ninth championship win, solidifying their status as the most successful club in NPFL history.
