“I didn’t like him at all” – Napoli’s Rudi Garcia knocks Osimhen after two-goal Frosinone showing

The Nigeria international came to the Italian champions’ rescue following a false start at the new-promoted side

Napoli’s head coach, Rudi Garcia, has pinpointed an area of concern in Victor Osimhen’s performance during their triumphant 3-1 victory against Frosinone, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Parthenopeans initially found themselves trailing due to Abdou Harroui’s seventh-minute penalty.

However, they quickly rebounded, with Matteo Politano finding the net midway through the first half.

Nigerian sensation Osimhen then took center stage. Although he secured an assist for Giacomo Raspadori’s 35th-minute strike, it was ultimately disallowed for offside.

Nevertheless, Osimhen refused to be denied, firing a fierce right-footed shot into the net three minutes before halftime, putting Napoli in the lead.

The 24-year-old striker completed his brace in the second half, outwitting goalkeeper Stefano Turati in a one-on-one situation.

What has Garcia said?

Garcia, while pleased with Osimhen’s stellar attacking display, expressed dissatisfaction with the striker’s defensive contributions.

However, he noted a notable improvement in Osimhen’s defensive efforts following their halftime discussion.

During the post-match press conference, Garcia responded to a question about the pressure on Osimhen’s performance, saying, “From an offensive point of view, he was very good, he scored two goals, and I have nothing to say to him.

“From a defensive point of view, however, I didn’t like him at all, and I told him so during the interval. In the past, he pressed more and defended better.

“We corrected this in the second half and played with a lot of quality. I knew he didn’t have 90 minutes in his legs, but we waited for him to score.

“From a psychological point of view, he’s engaged in the match, and when there’s competition, he’s always there to respond. He’s a driving force and will never change; that’s his strength.”

Osimhen was Serie A’s top scorer last season, notching an impressive 26 goals. His contributions were pivotal in Napoli securing the Serie A title, breaking a 33-year championship drought.

  • Garcia is saying nonsense. Is oshimen a defender the answer is no. this is what you get when you bring a racist coach to the team Garcia is a racist I know him long ago. How can he be asking oshimen to be defending balls when they have defenders. the new coach Garcia is asking too much from oshimen and putting too much pressure on Oshimen you want oshimen to score goals in one match you also want him to defend. I HAVE SAID IT BEFORE THE EARLIER OSHIMEN LEAVES NAPOLI THE BETTER FOR HIM.

    • Oga, pressing from the front is part of defending.. Osimhen was just strolling, pointing fingers, telling his teammates to press while he watches or strolls. He scored about three goals alone from putting pressure on defenders last season, he should continue same and not think he has arrived. There is nothing racist in that!

      • Your reply is unbelievable, especially coming from a Brother. So Osinhin should be running from attacking position to defending? Please what will the Defenders be doing? Or the defenders are not on a salary? They are playing for free?

        • it's like that even when you are working they want you to work more than them because they believe that you are expected to do that and you shouldn't be seen better than them in same time and they forget that your best is what will put you in the showroom of fame, it's a racial discrimination

      • How U are the only one that can not see the RACIST in this Coach beats me hollow. Your Striker comes from the bench to hand U full points and U still can see nyanmanyanma. He wasn't falling back to support the defense. Does Defenders share their salaries with Osinhim. Or did Osinhim score both goals with one of their legs? Did they help him score the goals he was paid to score???

Abe make all man carry their cross. And that includes the Coach.
Napoli will SACK the Coach instead of their Star Striker. Let him b there feeding on his racism.
And let pepper eyes and bad belle People like U keep hating.

      • Wisdom or whatever you call yourself, you are unreasonable to post such a disgraceful comment. This good-for-nothing coach is a racist and he is demonstrating it right away and there you are, twisted and agreeing with hi nonsense. You should be ashamed of your self

      • Sensationalist article Garcia didn't like him only from a defensive standpoint! He usually contributes more to the defensive phase, but in this game he didn't as much. That's all. Napoli relies on all of its players to build on both phases to produce the football that it plays. Garcia is just reminding him of that.....

      • Wisdom you're a smart guy that understands the game, Napoli have been trying to play from Sarri till now.

  • if I was him I just tell that ideot let me go for real I hate racists while they are exploiting Africans now see this ideot coach and this season Napoli will loose it all

  • why not take his breathe? only him will score and defend again?
You are obviously not a top class coach

  • This couch must be very stupid, how could you put pressure in one person, I can see that you want to lose this season if I were Osimeh I will leave the club for good

  • good day everyone,A word of advice to Osimehn, let him listen to the advice of a black man instead of the white man, this coach is not a first class one, because i have never see a coach like him before in my life that will be expecting the scorer of a team to be defending while bank on him at the same time be scoring goals,he is a stupid Coach indeed,if Napoli don't take time, they will loose this season

  • Intact its obvious that there issues behind this matter because this didn't talk professionally if he want osimeh to leave he should have bluntly let him know other clubs want him

  • This useless racist that call himself a coach should be careful about Victor O, how can he not certified with his work rate? Did he want him to die on the pitch so that he will know that Victor O is doing his best to Napoli? Victor O, is time for u to go to Saudi Arabia and become the richest player on Earth bro, leave this Racist people Alon bro

  • Intact its obvious that there're issues behind this matter because this coach didn't talk professionally if he want osimmeh to leave he should have bluntly let him know other clubs want him

  • It is evident that there are underlying concerns associated with this problem, as the communication employed lacked professionalism. If the intention was for Osimeh to depart, a direct and candid approach should have been adopted to inform him of the interest expressed by other clubs.

    • Wisdom...,I get your point as a professional player, its important that we defend together and attack together, infact, when the striker falls back a little to support the defense,it can help in build ups just like Drogba was always doing then.
You don't have to stress yourself with people who are not constructive in their views. Cheers to Wisdom!!!

  • I wonder what this Moronic Racist Coach will say to Osinhim, on his bad day.
Your player came from bench, score two goals and hand you Moronic Coach FULL POINTS, yet you call Press begin to rant this balderdash.

Osinhim Osinhim Osinhim, how many times I call U?
LEAVE THIS CLUB NOW,before they mess U up. Imagine the ridiculous fees they put on U, something they wouldn't have done if U were one of them, if U were Italian. This people did not shy away from reminding Ballotelli Mario, every now and again that he was not one of them, because of his skin color. Eventhough he carries an Italian passport. Bloody Racists!!!!‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️
