Ex-governor extends heartfelt wishes to Taiwo Awoniyi for scoring goals on and off the pitch

Super Eagles attacker, Awoniyi, once again established himself as a key figure in Nottingham Forest’s attack by scoring his first 2023-24 Premier League goal against Arsenal

Former Kwara State governor, Bukola Saraki, has extended his well wishes to Nottingham Forest forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, following the birth of his new baby,Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles attacker made an impactful appearance off the bench, scoring his first goal of the season against Arsenal.

But with an unbeaten run,former Manchester United forward, Anthony Elanga, found Awoniyi, who slotted in a goal past Arsenal goalkeeper, despite being reported to have picked a knock before the tie.

On the same day, Awoniyi experienced double joy as photos of him carrying his newborn baby went viral, prompting well-wishers to congratulate him not only for the birth but also for his birthday.

Among the notable figures extending their wishes to the former Union Berlin forward, former Senate President, Saraki, joined in.

Saraki shared on Twitter that he had spoken with Awoniyi on the phone to congratulate him and his wife on the arrival of their baby boy.

“Just got off the phone with Taiwo Awoniyi. I called to congratulate him and his wife on the arrival of their new baby boy. I’m happy to hear both mother and baby doing well.

“I also congratulated him on the goal that he scored yesterday at the Emirates.

“Thank God it was just one goal!” Saraki wrote on his Twitter feed.

After making an impact at the Emirates Stadium and catching the attention of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Nigerian star looks forward to maintaining his impressive form as Nottingham Forest faces Sheffield United in their upcoming match.
