From Festac to Belgium, Tolu Arokodare helped in turning the fortunes of Belgian Pro League side, Genk around as they defeated Demirspor.

Nigeria and Genk striker, Tolu Arokodare, came off the bench to help his side turn the game around against Turkish side, Adana Demirspor, Soccernet.ng reports.

In a thrilling clash in the UEFA Europa Conference league qualifiers, Tolu Arokodare came off the bench to score the equalizer against Adana Demirspor, as they turned the game around after going behind.

Demirspor opened the scoring at the Cegeka Arena Stadium, shortly after the second half. Two minutes into the second half, Emre Akbaba scored a brilliant goal, after he was sent through on goal by Senegalese striker, Cherif Ndiaye. Akbaba latched onto the ball, left the defender for dead and sent the ball into the bottom-right corner.

Arokodare, 22, came on two minutes after the seventy-minute mark, and just five minutes later, he volleyed the ball into the back of the net.

The Demirspor defence cleared a free kick from the edge of the box, but the ball fell kindly to Matias Galarza, who crossed the ball back into the box, and the 1.97 m tall striker sent the ball to equalize for Genk.

Genk would complete the come-back in stoppage time, as Mark McKenzie headed down from the corner kick, and Daniel Muñoz snuck in unmarked at the back post to send the fans wild, and give his team a slight advantage, heading into the away leg next week at the Yeni Adana Stadyumu in Turkey.

Akorodare’s goal today is his fourth for Genk, in nineteen games since joining from French Ligue 1 side, Amiens SC in January 2023.
