Two-year-old Tobenna has been making waves across several sports outlets, and finally met the stars of his Father’s favourite club, Chelsea.
The little Nigerian-American football wonder with Messi-esque movements and Sterling-like runs, Tobenna Uchendu, met with World Cup winner, Enzo Fernández, Soccernet.ng reports.
Tobenna, who turned two just over a week ago, has his social media run by his Father, who has mashed up videos of his son on his social media handles and has got traction from several sports channels like Canada’s TSN (The Sports Network) show, ESPN in the United States of America, ESPN UK, Instablog9ja and many others. One of the videos posted on Tobenna’s Instagram page has garnered over 30 million views.
With Chelsea having their pre-season tour in the United States of America, Tobenna and his dad, Obi Uchendu, got an official invite from the club to come and watch their training sessions at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia.
Big stars of the team graced the 75,000-capacity stadium as they hosted and had fun with Tobenna, while he also got to train with some of the players.
Uchendu, a proud and vocal Chelsea supporter, was in a dream-come-true moment after he mentioned Tobenna’s baby shower fell on the same day Kai Havertz scored to give the Blues their second Champions League trophy on the 29th of May, 2021, hence the name, Starboyy.
“And as a Chelsea fan, we had his baby shower on the day Chelsea won the Champions League, and I thought I’d name him Starboy. He came on the 16th of July, 2021, the same date Wizkid was born, and I said it couldn’t be a coincidence, he’s a double star, so I call him Starboyy.” He said.
Chelsea will continue their pre-season tour under the guidance of the new Coach, Mauricio Pochettino. They take on Newcastle at the Mercedes-Benz Arena on the 27th of July, before playing fellow London side, Fulham three days later.
