Transfers: Nigerian forward departs FC Vizela to join C.D Mafra

Friday Etim is a product of Dominion Hotspur F. C,semi-pro club based in Orile/Iganmu, Lagos, Nigeria. 

Portuguese club C.D Mafra have announced the signing of a young talented Nigerian striker Friday Etim from fellow Portuguese club FC Vizela, Soccernet.ng reports.

Etim has been with FC Vizela since 2021, where he made 24 appearances in the Primeira Liga and 25 appearances in the Revelacao league for the club’s U23 team.

During this period, he showcased his scoring prowess by netting an impressive tally of 20 goals, which piqued the interest of the Portuguese side.

The 21-year-old began his football journey with Lagos-based amateur side Dominion Hotspur before making the move to FC Vizela’s U23 team on a four-year contract in 2021. In his first season with the club’s U23 side, Etim emerged as the top scorer in the Portuguese youth league, earning him a promotion to the senior team at Vizela.

Etim’s debut with FC Vizela’s first team came in a league cup match against Portuguese giants FC Porto. He was subsequently included in their Primeira Liga squad for the 2022-23 season.

Last season, Etim made 22 appearances across all competitions for Vizela, contributing three goals to the team’s efforts.
C.D. Mafra officially announced the signing of the talented Nigerian striker on their website, stating, “Clube Desportivo de Mafra – futebol SAD has reached an agreement with FC Vizela for the transfer of Friday Etim to our club.”

Expressing his delight about his new opportunity, Etim said, “I’m happy to be here. It’s another chance for me to develop and showcase my abilities. With hard work and consistency, I believe we can achieve our goals for the season together. Let’s get started.”

Etim’s transfer to C.D. Mafra marks an exciting chapter in his career as he aims to make a significant impact in the Portuguese football scene.
