Super Eagles star Iwobi joins Everton for Switzerland pre-season camp

The Toffees are looking to prepare for the new season, which begins in August

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi will be part of Everton’s pre-season camp in Switzerland from the 10th of July to the 3rd of August, Soccernet reports.

The Nigerian midfielder was the best player at Everton last season. He was the catalyst in the Toffees’ midfield, playing all 38 games in the Premier League last season.

Everton finished 17th in the Premier League last season and had to wait till the final day to secure their place in the English top-flight.

The Toffees have been on break since the last season ended in May. However, they are set to return to action in August. Ahead of the new season, the Merseysiders are set to begin pre-season training in Switzerland.

Everton will play five friendly games between July 14 and August 5. They will square off against Stade Nyonnais, Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City, and Sporting CP.

Iwobi is part of the 28-man squad travelling with coach Sean Dyche. He is not the only player of Nigerian descent on the team. 18-year-old Anglo-Nigerian midfielder Francis Okoronkwo is also on the team.

Everton will begin their Premier League season with a fixture against Fulham on the 12th of August.
