Osimhen looks set to extend his contract at Napoli, but both teams just need to agree on one final detail
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is yet to sign a new contract at Serie A champions Napoli because they are yet to agree on his release clause, Soccernet reports.
Osimhen was one of the best strikers in Europe last season, scoring an impressive 31 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions for the Partenopeans.
His exploits have not gone unnoticed, as several top clubs have been looking to get his signature. Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and PSG have been at the forefront of getting the 24-year-old forward’s services.
However, Napoli have held their ground, as they have often reiterated that only a fee of around €50million can take Osimhen away from the club.
The Super Eagles striker also does not seem prepared to leave Naples, as he has become a fan favourite.
Osimhen’s contract expires at the end of next season, but Napoli have begun talks to extend his deal by two years. Both parties seem to have agreed on most of the details.
But according to Mirror, Osimhen has refused to sign the deal because Napoli want to set his release clause at €200million while he wants his release clause to be at €120million.
Both parties are still discussing, but it is expected that they will reach a compromise soon.
