The new Primeira Liga kicks off next month, and clubs are eager to get their transfer business done before the first whistle is blown
Nigerian forward Abraham Marcus will not be seen in FC Porto’s lineup for the upcoming season, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Portuguese giants have given the green light for Marcus to join Moreirense Futebol Clube for the 2023/24 campaign.
Marcus had an eventful season with FC Porto’s reserve team, Porto B, last year after being loaned from his Nigerian local league side, Remo Stars.
His standout performances during his time with the reserve team caught the eye of the first team, leading to Porto making his move permanent and promoting him to first-team duties.
However, a report from the Record indicates that the young talent’s journey with the Dragons has reached its end.
Porto and Moreirense are in the final stages of sealing the deal for Marcus’s transfer to the newly promoted side.
Moreirense secured the top spot in the 18-team Liga Portugal 2 division, which granted them a place in the prestigious Primeira Liga for the upcoming season.
Moreirense’s Chairman, Vítor Magalhães, is determined to bolster head coach Paulo Alves’ arsenal as they return to the top flight, and Abraham Marcus is seen as a positive addition to their squad.
The 23-year-old forward has proved his mettle with FC Porto B, netting an impressive nine goals and providing one assist in 30 appearances.
On the international front, Marcus has also earned two caps for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, under the guidance of former coach Gernot Rohr.
