“One of the best in the world” – French legend hails Super Falcons star having a great time at FIFA Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, making waves at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, has drawn high praise from French legend Sandrine Soubeyrand, who considers her among the world’s finest keepers, Soccernet.ng reports.

After having a stellar season at Paris FC in France, Nnadozie’s remarkable form has translated to the Mundial, where she has been making stunning saves.

She displayed her skills during Nigeria’s goalless draw with Canada by stopping a crucial penalty kick.

Additionally, her performance was key to the Super Falcons’ thrilling 3-2 victory against co-hosts Australia.

With four points, Nigeria currently sit atop Group B and could secure a spot in the knockout round with a win or draw against debutant Ireland on Monday (today).

Soubeyrand, who is Nnadozie’s coach at Paris FC, expressed her admiration for the young talent, saying to ESPN, “She is so talented. She is one of the main reasons we finished third in the league last season and qualified for the Champions League.

“She kept clean sheets [eight through the campaign], she made crucial saves in key matches. She was outstanding for us and so consistent as well.

“She is one of the best keepers in the world already at her age. She has incredible mental strength. She always gives 100% while enjoying every moment of her career. It is a privilege to coach someone like her.”

The Super Falcons face a historic opportunity today against the Republic of Ireland.

Avert defeat, and they will be the first African team to remain unbeaten in the Women’s World Cup group stage.
