Nigerian players have returned for pre-season action, and some of them have been doing the business for their clubs
Nigerian striker Victor Boniface scored for Royale Union Saint Gilloise in their 4-0 victory over RFC Liege, Soccernet reports.
Boniface returned to action with Royale Union SG in their third pre-season game. He missed their first pre-season game against Nijlen, which they won 9-0. However, he returned with a bang last time out to help his side get a 1-1 draw against Monaco.
Union were favourites to defeat their Belgian counterparts when both teams locked horns, and they showed their quality. They took the lead via Cameron Puertas in the first minute. Then Nigerian striker Boniface struck in the 31st minute to make it two for Royale Union.
Goals from Dennis Eckert Ayensa and Ross Sykes ensured that the game ended 4-0 to Royale Union SG.
Meanwhile, Peter Olayinka scored his first goal for Red Star Belgrade as they defeated Osayi-Samuel’s Fenerbahce side.
Both Super Eagles stars started the game, but Olayinka only needed seconds to show his prowess. He got on the end of a nice pass into the box and sent a well-placed strike into the net in the opening seconds of the game.
Fenerbahce failed to stay disciplined in defence, and they were punished again by Mirko Ivanic, who had either two in the 39th minute.
Osayi-Samuel looked sharp, but he did not much in his 87 minutes of action. Joao Pedro pulled one back for Fenerbahce, but Vladimir Lucic scored again to ensure it ended 3-1.
