Australia’s national women’s football team, the Matildas, held a crucial team meeting following their 3-2 loss to the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the Women’s World Cup.

The defeat left their campaign hanging in the balance, with the team now sitting third in Group B and facing a must-win clash against Canada to progress to the round of 16.

The squad gathering, according to Kerr, who is recuperating from a calf injury, let them to openly debate and critique their performance against Nigeria.

The Australian women’s team gathered after the match and had an honest discussion, the forward told reporters.

“After every game we meet as a team, and we chat openly and honestly with each other,” she said, as quoted by Mail Online.

“Maybe it’s good things, maybe it’s bad things, but the good thing about this team is that the captain doesn’t have to have that role and everyone speaks up and it was the same after the Nigeria game.

“We spoke openly and honestly to each other and then we move on, and we prepare for the next game.” She added.

With their World Cup journey on the line, the Matildas are determined to bounce back and secure a victory against Canada to secure their spot in the round of 16.

As the countdown to the must-win clash continues, the Matildas will draw upon their collective strength and determination, knowing that their fate lies in their own hands.
