‘I did not know’- Rangers forward Dessers reacts to Francis Uzoho’s boss taking note of him

Super Eagles forward, Cyriel Dessers, has recently signed a four-year deal with Scottish giants, Rangers FC

Glasgow Rangers new signing, Cyriel Dessers, has reacted to Neil Lennon’s comment on his move to join the Gers, Soccernet.ng reports.

The former Celtic manager, now Francis Uzoho’s manager at Omonia FC, earlier revealed his interest in former Cremonese forward, Cyriel Dessers, when he was managing Ranger’s rival club.

The Nigerian international has, however, revealed that he was not aware of the interest at that time, but surely knows his goal-scoring form would pique the interest of some clubs.

The Belgium-born star further acknowledged that Rangers has been on his radar since the 2019-20 Eredivisie season, and he is happy to make the move to join the club finally.

The Nigerian star’s excellent performance for Cremonese entered the books of some European clubs, who were vying for his services during the transfer window.

Although, his excellent performance could not save Cremonese Serie A stay after 21 losses and 5 wins, which relegated them to the second division.

Dessers, having finally pursued growth by joining the Scottish side, has been praised by Lennon, who has labelled him as a “big, powerful player with a little bit of technique sometimes, with the soft feet” and has well his initial interest for the 28-year-old.

Dessers, meanwhile, reacted to his claims saying, “I did not know about that at the time, but if you score goals, you will be on some club’s radar

“I spoke a couple of times with Rangers in the past years, and the contact has been close, so I am happy to finally be here now.

“It was during Covid, so it was a difficult time for a lot of clubs to make deals and, after that, the contact was always there,” he said, as quoted by BBC.

Rangers are slated to hold their first preseason game against English Premier League side Newcastle United on July 18, and Dessers is expected to lead the line for the Light Blues.
