Super Falcons legendary centre-back, Onome Ebi, speaking ahead of the Ireland game has sent a message of support to young Nigerians aspiring to achieve their football dreams, Soccernet.ng  reports.

Onome, the Super Falcons captain, holds the record for most appearances at the FIFA World Cup for an African, man or woman, having featured in six editions of the tournament, which is another record on its own. The 40-year-old is also the oldest player at this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Speaking ahead of the game against Ireland about how she felt about the impact she’s made in Nigerian football and how far she’s come, the centre-back was filled with gratitude as it has not been easy in any way, yet she made it out, and sent a message to young ones who have dreams like she once did, and told them how to turn them into a reality, laying emphasis on hard work, discipline, dedication and concentration.

Speaking to Victor Modo about how she feels as the record holder for most appearances by a Nigerian at the FIFA World Cup, she said;

“I feel blessed, I feel fulfilled. All my hard work, all my dreams, I’m achieving them right now, so I feel blessed. Just to tell the young ones out there, what hard work, discipline, dedication, and concentration can get you. It’ll get you beyond what your goals are.”

“We’re expecting victory, nothing but victory.”

The Super Falcons will take on The Republic of Ireland in their final group game at the Brisbane Stadium on Monday.
