Tottenham to tackle Rennes and Monaco for Super Eagles-eligible star as defensive solution

Tottenham is trying to improve their defensive circumstances after giving up 63 goals last season, the most among the top 10 English Premier League clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly keeping a close eye on Tosin Adarabioyo, a promising defender eligible to represent the Super Eagles, as they seek to address their defensive issues, Soccernet.ng reports.

Adarabioyo, reportedly linked with a potential future role in the Nigerian national team, has an expiring contract set for 2024. Recent talks regarding a new deal at his current club, Craven Cottage, have broken down, prompting them to consider cashing in on his sale sooner rather than later.

Recent reports from the Evening Standard suggest that Spurs have identified Adarabioyo as one of their potential options to strengthen their center-back position.

The Lilywhites endured defensive struggles during the 2022-23 English Premier League campaign, conceding the highest number of goals among the top 10 teams with a total of 63. It is evident that bolstering their defense is a priority for the club.

As new head coach Ange Postecoglou looks to revamp Tottenham’s backline, the club is reportedly prepared to invest heavily in securing Adarabioyo’s services.

However, they are expected to face competition from French clubs Rennes and Monaco in their pursuit of the former England youth international.

With Tottenham’s sights set on defensive reinforcements, the potential addition of Adarabioyo would provide the club with a promising young talent who has already showcased his abilities in English football. His height, physicality, and ability to read the game make him an attractive prospect for any team needing defensive stability.

It is still unclear whether Tottenham will be able to sign Adarabioyo and solve their defence problems before the new season as negotiations and conversations move further.
