Osimhen strikes again to help Napoli end campaign in style; becomes first African to win Capocannoniere

Osimhen has had an extremely wonderful season with Napoli, and he ended it on a high against Sampdoria

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored his 26th Serie A goal of the season to help Napoli beat Sampdoria 2-0 at the Diego Maradona Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen was looking to end the season on a high when Napoli welcomed Serie A weeping boys Sampdoria to the Diego Maradona Stadium.

Napoli were huge favorites to beat Sampdoria, and they showed it. They bossed the possession and created a lot of chances. However, they were unable to score. Osimhen registered three shots, but none of them resulted in a goal.

The Partenopeans started the second half well, and they eventually got the lead in the 64th minute, and it was Osimhen who came through. The 24-year-old striker won a penalty after he was manhandled in the box. He made no mistake from close range, dispatching comfortably from the spot to make it 1-0 for the Partenopeans. It was also his 26th goal of the season.

Osimhen was taken off in the 76th minute and replaced by Giovanni Simeone, who later doubled Napoli’s lead in the 87th minute.

With 26 goals, Osimhen took home the Capocannoniere, becoming the first African to do so.
