Dessers’ outstanding stats for U.S. Cremonese—10 goals and 3 assists in 37 games—indicate his ability to improve the team’s attacking prowess
U.S Cremonese and Super Eagles forward, Cyriel Dessers, is reportedly on the verge of securing a move to Scottish side, Glasgow Rangers, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to Corriere dello Sport (page 15, 8 June), the Nigerian striker, who joined Cremonese from KRC Genk in last summer’s transfer window for a fee of €6.50m, is nearing a transfer to Rangers for approximately €5 million (£4.2 million).
During his time at Cremonese, Dessers could do little as the team battled to retain their position in Serie A.
Meanwhile, despite being contracted to remain at the Giovanni Zini Stadium until 2027, the Nigerian star is now exploring alternative opportunities to further his career.
However, the Super Eagles forward will face the daunting task of filling the void left by the departure of Alfredo Morelos, who had become a beloved figure among the Rangers faithful.
Morelos played a pivotal role for the team, netting 12 goals and providing 7 assists in 45 appearances throughout the 2022-23 season before his contract expired.
Dessers, known for his goal-scoring prowess, will be aiming to replicate Morelos’ impact and win over the Rangers supporters with his skills and abilities.
His impressive record of 10 goals and 3 assists in 37 appearances for U.S Cremonese highlights his potential contribution to the team’s attacking prowess.
Football enthusiasts and Rangers fans alike eagerly await the official announcement of Dessers’ transfer. Should the deal be finalized, it will mark an exciting chapter in the young forward’s career, as he embarks on a new challenge in the Scottish Premiership.
