AC Milan target Nigerian attacker Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi? The actual situation

AC Milan pursuing Nigerian star Samuel Chukwueze, rumours of additional Nigerian forward false

AC Milan has been actively pursuing the signature of Nigerian sensation Samuel Chukwueze, and recent rumours suggested that they were also targeting another Nigerian forward.

However, exclusive information obtained by Soccernet.ng reveals that the reports of AC Milan’s interest in the additional player are far from accurate.

Local media, citing Italian journalist Sacha Tavolieri as a source, initially linked the young talent to AC Milan. However, an interview with the secretary of Giant Brillars FC, Obi Michael, confirmed that there had been no approach from the Italian giants for the 21-year-old player.

While the Nigerian attacker has indeed impressed with his performances, particularly during his loan spell at Slovenian side NK Celje, where he scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists in the Slovenian top division, the rumours of AC Milan identifying him as a “hidden gem” are unfounded.

Michael shed light on the situation, stating, “He’s just finished a brilliant season with NK Celje in the Slovenian top division, in which he scored 9 goals and 5 assists. He’s enjoying a well-deserved rest right now. There is nothing more to it.”

Regarding the transfer speculation linking the player with AC Milan, Michael clarified, “Well, it’s a rumour. Nothing concrete yet. He performed admirably in the previous season, so it’s expected that there will be various news stories about him. It’s normal, and I also hope the rumour becomes a reality.”

While AC Milan continues their pursuit of Samuel Chukwueze, securing the signatures of both him and the rumored Nigerian forward would further strengthen their Nigerian contingent, which already includes the likes of Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, who have been in impressive form in the Serie A.

The football world is keenly awaiting to see which moves AC Milan completes during the transfer window and how their ties to Nigeria will affect their team composition for the next season.
