Trouble looms? Burkina Faso’s striker to miss Golden Eaglets clash

Burkina Faso defeated Cameroon to secure their quaterfinal spots at the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament

Burkina Faso forward, Ousmane Camara, is expected to miss the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal clash against Nigeria at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, Soccernet.ng understands.

The 16-year-old forward got registered for a yellow card during the U-17 Stallion’s clash against Mali, and their 2-1 victory against Cameroon on Sunday.

The ground will shake at Algiers as Nduka Ugbade’s boys would be hoping to build on their previous victory against South Africa when they face Brahima Traore’s troops.

Meanwhile, after a 1-nil loss to Mali, The Burkinabes booked their spot in the last eight after a win against Cameroon on Sunday night.

Following this, their coach has fired a warning that his boys will fight hard to beat the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria to the semi-final ticket.

However, with the absence of their attacker, Nigeria is expected to play with a calm mind, but their quest to secure the World Cup ticket and win their third AFCON title remains underway.

Despite the threat the Golden Eaglets might pose to their West African neighbours, the gaffer hinted that his team would prepare well for the game.

“We had two objectives in this tournament; first, to get to the semi-finals and then to fight for the title. We will prepare well for Nigeria to enable us to get to the semis and earn the World Cup ticket,” he said, as quoted by CAFonline.

The five-time World Cup winner defeated Burkina Faso in 2001 with a score of 1 goal to nil, and with the game billed to commence at 8pm Nigeria time, Burkina Faso will be seeking for revenge.
