The End for Ndidi and Iheanacho? Manchester United legend rules out Leicester’s EPL hope

Leicester City were Champions League candidates only two seasons ago, but things have fallen apart at the club

Super Eagles stars Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho may have to start preparing for Championship football with Leicester City, as Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes they will not survive the drop this season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Leicester City have remarkably declined this season. The club has gone from a club fighting for a place in the Champions League to a club trying to stay afloat in the Premier League. They sacked Brendan Rodgers in April, but their fortunes have not improved much since then.

Coach Dean Smith has been unable to turn the tide, as Leicester City currently sit 19th in the Premier League.

The Foxes lost 3-0 to Leicester City on Monday, and with two games left, they are two points away from safety. Their destiny is no longer in their hands, as they have to hope that their fellow survival fighters Nottingham Forest, Leeds United, and Everton drop points.

Leicester City play Newcastle United and West Ham in their remaining two games. And Manchester United legend Neville believes they will be unable to salvage something from those games.

What Neville said: “I don’t want to see any team going down, but it seems like the end of the road for Leicester City,” Neville said per Football Daily.

“If Everton were to win a game and Forest were to draw – and that is quite realistic, Leicester City would have to win their remaining two games.

“It’s not a case of about they can win one game and stay up. I think they have to definitely get a minimum of four points and I’m thinking that will not be enough.

“I think they have to win both games to stay up. The odds for them to go down is 85 percent, that basically tells you it’s a massive struggle for them.

“I think they are gone, I think Everton are in a decent position. Leeds, Forest, and Everton can get points in their remaining games, but I don’t see where Leicester can get points.

Nigerian stars Ndidi and Iheanacho have enjoyed wonderful times at the club. They helped Leicester City to their first FA Cup triumph two seasons ago.

Ndidi used to be one of the best midfielders in the league until injuries hit last season. Meanwhile, Iheanacho has endured a topsy-turvy stay at Leicester City.

On different occasions, he has been the club’s knight in shining armor, but he hardly retains that status before getting benched again.

If Leicester City go down, both players could leave the club. However, if they remain, they may witness significant changes to their contracts.
