Napoli line up ex-Chelsea coach as next manager if Osimhen’s boss leaves

Victor Osimhen acknowledged that Luciano Spalletti had been a significant influence on his growth and success in Napoli

Current Serie A champions, Napoli, are considering employing Antonio Conte as the next manager if Luciano Spalletti exits the club, Soccernet.ng understands.

The manager of Victor Osimhen’s squad had just led them to their first Italian league championship in 30 years, but he could shortly leave Naples.

The 64-year-old manager’s future as head coach in the regional capital of Campania is therefore in question, according to a report by Spazio Napoli, and the former Chelsea and Juventus coach may replace him.

The Gli Azzurri were led by the Italian manager, who took over from Gennaro Gattuso in 2021, to a top-four finish in the 2021–22 campaign and the eventual Italian Serie A league triumph in 2022–23.

With his ability to turn Napoli into a dominant team in Italy, Luciano, whose contract with the Parthenpeans expires in 2025, had caught the curiosity of several prominent European teams like Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Conte is presently a free agent seeking a top-tier team to continue managing his career after leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

But, having managed Juventus and his good records with them, he would be a strong contender for Spalletti’s position when the time comes for Aurelio De Laurentiis to select the best manager to fill his seat.

However, if Osimhen chooses to remain longer at the Diego Maradona Stadium, the Super Eagles star, who has been linked with a transfer to Manchester United, may not be without his manager for as long.
