Hertha Berlin bid goodbye to Super Eagles dribbler Ejuke

Ejuke joined the Bundesliga outfit last July, but he failed to improve their fortunes

Relegated Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin have bid goodbye to Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke after the completion of his season-long loan deal, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ejuke joined Hertha Berlin on a season-long from CSKA Moscow last summer. The Super Eagles dazzler arrived from the Russian Premier League with a big reputation as he was known for his ability to wriggle past defenders and glide through watertight defenses with his dribbling skills.

However, he failed to replicate that enough in the Bundesliga. Ejuke made 21 appearances and registered only three assists. Also, his time at the club was marred by an injury that kept him out of action from December till April.

Upon his return from injury, Hertha Berlin were just a few losses to relegation. Unfortunately, he could not perform any wonders.

The club may have considered keeping him if he performed and helped them preserve their Bundesliga status.

However, the club has parted ways with the Nigerian forward. They have announced that he will return to CSKA Moscow.

“Our thanks go to Chidi, who unfortunately was unable to play the role that we all had hoped in the second half of the season due to injury. We wish him all the best on and off the pitch,” Hertha Berlin’s Sporting Director Benjamin Weber said.

Ejuke still has a year left on his contract at CSKA Moscow.
