Victor Osimhen returned to the Champions League against AC Milan and scored a goal, but it was not enough to advance his club to the next round of the game
AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori subdued the threats of Nigerian international Victor Osimhen during their match against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League.
Following a 1-0 triumph in Milan, the Neapolitans welcomed Rossoneri to the Diego Maradona stadium for the second leg of their Champions League match.
Osimhen, who returned to the squad from an injury sustained while on international duty for his country, was expected to lead his team to victory with his goal-scoring prowess, but the English defender contained his danger throughout the whole match.
Despite this, the Nigerian striker scored a goal in the last seconds of the match, but it was not enough to hand Gli Azzurri the win.
Speaking after the game, Tomori expressed disappointment that he was able to score against Milan. Still, he additionally spoke about what he did to make sure he didn’t have many opportunities to score over the whole 90 minutes of play.
The 25-year-old said: “Yeah, obviously, Victor has been having a great season. So I know how dangerous he is. I made sure I got my body in between him and the ball. Although, I was disappointed that he scored in the match at the end. But yeah, I tried to get his style and I tried not to give him a lot of space.”
