In 40 games this season, Victor Boniface has tallied a total of 20 goals and 9 assists
The Super Eagles-eligible forward, Victor Boniface, expressed his delight after scoring for Royale Union SG against Bayer Leverkusen.
Currently holding the top spot in the Europa League scoring rankings with six goals, he expressed his happiness at reaching this level in light of his previous struggles.
His Belgian team travelled to Germany for the opening leg of their doubleheader in the UEFA Europa League against the Red and Blacks at the Bay Arena.
After seizing a pass inside the box and blasting into the bottom right corner of the hosts’ goal in the second half, the former Bodo/Glimt player gave his team the lead.
However, Boniface, who trailed Marcus Rashford by one goal, promised to give it all at the Bay Arena, which he did in the second half.
Although the game ended in a frustrating tie for the visitors, the 22-year-old could not contain his excitement when speaking after the game.
“Yeah, I’m really happy. I’m happy because I’ve been through a lot. During my time in Norway, [I] got injured and missed a lot of games, but getting back here, performing at the highest level makes me happy.” he said.
Union SG will host Die Werkself at the Joseph Marien Stadium with the hopes of advancing to the next round.
