“The players are hungry”- Super Falcons star warns FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup opponents

Super Falcons squad seeded in Group B with Ireland, Canada, and Australia at the 2023 Women’s World Cup

Former FC Minsk star, Onome Ebi, has issued a warning to the opponents of Super Falcons in the FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup tournament.

The 39-year-old asserts that while the Nigerian women’s team is often considered the underdog in international competitions, the team is eager to surprise its opponents.

The Super Falcons qualified for the ninth edition of the quadrennial international women’s tournament by defeating Cameroon 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

After that, the squad, which had lost its first two warm-up games to two Mexico and Colombia, was able to bounce back with wins against Costa Rica, Haiti, and New Zealand.

According to Beatsandrhymesfc, Onomo Ebi declared that the team is prepared to compete and thrill Nigerian supporters with something to cheer for when they journey to the World Cup.

“All the World Cups, people never believe in Nigeria; they think we’re just the team that will leave after the group stage.

“That’s what I think people feel about Nigeria, but I think this time around is going to be different.

“I’m not just saying it because I want to say it, I’m saying it because it’s a fact. We have so many young players in the team, fast players, experienced players, talented players; they are ready to play and ready to fight and make a difference to Nigeria.

“The players are hungry to show to the world that Nigeria is a team to play against and be worried about.” the former Bayelsa Queens player said.

The World Cup campaign for Randy Waldrum’s women will get off against Canada on July 21 before contests with Australia and Ireland.
