Terem Moffi: OGC Nice star claims Erling Haaland inspired his bicycle kick goal against Basel

Terem Moffi’s bicycle kick goal has been named the Europa Conference League goal of the week

The Super Eagles’ star, Terem Moffi, revealed what motivated him to score that stunning goal against FC Basel on Thursday evening.

The Nigerian international said that Erling Haaland, a standout for Manchester City, was the source of his inspiration for the overhead kick that has everyone talking.

Haaland scored twice as Manchester City hammered Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium with a score of four goals to one, giving him his 29th and 30th league goals of the season.

On Thursday night at the St. Jakob-Park, the Nigerian star gave his club the lead in their Europa Conference League quarterfinal game with a spectacular goal that astonished fans everywhere.

The Nigerian striker, after the game, predicts the goal, which has been crowned the Europa Conference League Goal of the Week, will earn the competition’s top honour.

“It was a special goal, a special moment. I would never have imagined scoring such a goal. Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing. I saw the ball coming, and I tried. The goal of the year? Maybe not. But maybe the goal of the competition.” he said, as cited RMC Sports.

The Norwegian wonderkid was well picked up by Jack Grealish, who added a fantastic bicycle kick at the back net to make it 3-0.

When discussing his goal, Moffi revealed that Haaland served as his inspiration and that he finally followed suit on Thursday night.

He added: “To be honest, it’s not something you can prepare for. I saw Haaland do it last weekend (against Southampton), and I was like, ‘Why not?’”

On April 20, Moffi’s Nice will meet the Swiss team at the Allianz Riviera Stadium, and both teams will be fervently vying for victory in the second leg of their doubleheader tie.
