Super Eagles legend tips Osayi-Samuel’s Fenerbahçe to win the Süper Lig

Six Turkish Cups, nine Turkish Super Cups, and 19 Turkish Super League crowns have all been won by Fenerbahçe

Super Eagles icon, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, believes Fenerbahçe will beat Galatasaray to win the 2022–23 Süper Lig season.

With 63 points, The Yellow Canaries are in second position in the Turkish league, 6 points off the lead held by Galatasaray, who have 69 points.

The team of Bright Osayi-Samuel has suffered five losses so far this season, but they have also been strong in the league and seem to be on track to win it for the first time since the 2013–14 campaign.

Galatasaray was the reigning champion in the 56th Süper Lig season, however, after a scoreless tie with aykur Rizespor, Fenerbahçe equalled their record of 19 league titles.

Okocha, who is regarded as the club’s icon, hopes a repeat of the 2013–24 season, as he picked his former side to win the Süper Lig, even though both clubs are still in contention for the league crown.

“I hope Galatasaray will lose points. Last match Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby. I hope Fenerbahce’s luck continues in this match. Nothing is lost, it’s open. He must win every match. 6 points difference is not important. It is very important that they win yesterday, even at the last minute. Of course, they can be champions, but they should definitely continue without losing.” Okocha said, as cited by Hurriyet.

There are still 10 games remaining in the season for each of these sides, who have each played 28 matches thus far.
