Report- Napoli star Osimhen desires to play against Lecce amid injury worries

Victor Osimhen suffered his second injury in the 2022-2023 season while on international duty for Nigeria

Super Eagles attacker, Victor Osimhen, reportedly expressed an intention to participate in Napoli’s matchday 29 match against Lecce.

The 24-year-old is reportedly willing to travel with Luciano Spalletti’s squad for the match against Lecce at the Stadio Via del mare. But, the club will choose to be cautious with his recuperation.

During the Super Eagles’ doubleheader match against Guinea-Bissau in their Africa Cup of Nations qualification match, the Nigerian star sustained an injury.

The Nigerian absence was greatly felt in the Rossoneri’s routing of Luciano Spalletti’s men at the San Siro stadium on Sunday, owing to his injury.

According to sources from Tutto Napoli, the Nigerian star is eager to hasten his return to action by playing tomorrow against Lecce to lead his team to win since his absence was felt the last time against Milan.

However, the Parthenopeans would rather be careful and wait until next week to assess the number 9’s physical condition in order to determine the margins of recuperation in light of the crucial San Siro encounter against Milan scheduled for April 12.

This is starting to corroborate Dario Marcolin’s statement that Napoli will employ the attacker in their matchday 30 match against Verona and not risk him for the UEFA Champions League first-leg battle against AC Milan.

The Neapolitans are still the favourites to overcome Lecce when they go to Lecce on Friday, despite their devastating loss to AC Milan.
