“Not very good” – Mikel Obi gives blunt assessment of Napoli goal-king Victor Osimhen

Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has given his assessment of Nigerian compatriot Victor Osimhen, admitting that while he is not technically astute, he believes the Napoli striker would be of great interest to Manchester United this summer

Speaking on Dubai Eye 103.8 Sport, Mikel Obi spoke highly of Osimhen’s current form, suggesting he could be on his way to the Premier League this summer, with Man United reportedly interested in signing him.

However, Mikel was quick to point out a flaw in the striker’s game, stating that he is not as technically gifted as some other players.

Despite this, Mikel Obi was still convinced that Osimhen is a player that every club would like to have, as he has a knack for scoring goals.

“Is he very good technically? Not as much, but he will give you goals for sure,” said Mikel Obi.

“When you look at Victor Osimhen, he is doing very well for Napoli, he is playing very well. He’s going to be on the market this summer, I think Man United are definitely going to be looking for him.”

A former Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi’s comments will be of interest to many Blues fans, as the Stamford Bridge giants have been linked with a move for Osimhen in recent weeks.

The striker has been in impressive form for Napoli this season, scoring 25 goals in all competitions, and it is believed that he could be available for around €150m this summer.

With Chelsea in need of a striker, Osimhen could be a great signing for the London club. However, they will face competition from Manchester United, who are also reportedly interested in the striker.

Mikel Obi’s comments are sure to spark debate among fans of both clubs, as they weigh up the pros and cons of signing Osimhen.

But one thing is for sure, the Nigerian striker is a player who is sure to attract plenty of attention this summer, and his next destination could be one of the biggest talking points of the transfer window.

  • My captain we understood tbe truth but such comments about his technical abilities should not be discussed in the media.

  • When people start talking like this without control you can guess What's running in Thier mind. Why not praise just like everyone both local and international and try to advise him one on one when you come in contact with him. kai

  • I don't like your kind of football Mikel, Osihmen is a great player and score technical goals so I don't understand what you mean by technical, that goal against Roma was an impossible strike, only very few world best can score that kind of goal. Examine yourself before condemning your own brother, wicked Nigerian

  • What is Mikel Obi talking about technical ability of Osimeh? Football is about scoring goals. How many technical ability does Halaad have in Manchester City? Today he is idolize there because he score goals. And please don't let Mikel Obi suggest clubs for Osimeh. because in his days he made mistake in choosing a club for his talent that almost cost him his career. So please allow Almighty GOD to direct Osimeh and not Mikel Obi. The two of them are two different players.

  • You do not score t type of goals Osimhen scores without strong technicalities. Osimhen is a world class player. Mikel was an average player at his best in Chelsea. He was not a first eleven under morinho.

  • He is good in the air, his holdup-play is excellent, he is a brilliant finisher, and has almost unmatchable pase. Brother Mikel, how else do you define a technical player?
How many goals have the so called technical players scored this season?

  • The truth must be told, Mikel has hint the truth it will only gear him to improve his game on the pitch. This is not about Mikel been jealous of him or criticizing him.

  • which one is technicality again bro, he scores, holdup play, good in the air, good character on/off the pitch, oga Mikel abeg o.
