Luciano Spalletti: Struggling London club weighs Osimhen’s manager for coaching role

Currently, Napoli is in first place in Serie A with a 14-point advantage and not many games remaining

English Premier League side, Chelsea, are reportedly considering current Napoli manager, Luciano Spalletti, among the favourite candidates to oversee the club from next season’s campaign, Soccernet.ng understands.

Tutto Napoli reports that despite Julian Nagelsmann, the former manager of Bayern Munich, being in the best position to fill the vacancy, rumours surfaced that the Blues are also considering Luciano Spalletti.

The London team is having a miserable season; most recently, Real Madrid eliminated them from the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, which was their only chance to win a title this season.

However, in their domestic competition, Graham Potter led the 2021 Champions League champions to a terrible spot in the rankings, and Frank Lampard, who replaced him as temporary manager, appears to have made things worse for Chelsea.

Following this, Todd Boehly is currently busy looking for the best gaffer to lead the London giants to win ways again.

Boehly could approach Spalletti to take over the position in the future months after he led the Neapolitans to such great success this season, as Victor Osimhen has disclosed that Spalletti was the driving force behind his development and improvement.

Although Osimhen’s absence during the first leg of their quarterfinal match against Napoli may be attributed to the Italian team’s Champions League defeat to AC Milan, the Gli Azzurri are now in first place in Serie A with 14 points.

In 2021, the Italian succeeded Gennaro Gattuso, and in his first season in command, the Parthenopeans gained a Champions League ticket. In his second season in charge, the Italian holds a strong chance of leading Napoli to a league title.

This remarkable performance is viewed as one of the reasons why Chelsea’s board of directors may go all in on him.
