Lookman missed Atalanta’s previous game against Fiorentina, but he may still miss the next game against Roma at the weekend
Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is set to miss Atalanta’s Serie A clash against Roma on Monday Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman has had a brilliant first season following his switch from RB Leipzig last summer.
The former Everton man has registered 15 goals and five assists in 30 appearances for La Dea. However, he has not been at his best since February, scoring just once since then.
Lookman was unavailable for selection when Atalanta were forced to a 1-1 stalemate against Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi last week. The Super Eagles forward missed the clash because of a minor injury, but there were hopes that he would be available for Atalanta’s cracker against Roma on the 24th of April.
However, that may not happen, as Calcio Atalanta reports that Lookman is not yet fit for the tie. In fact, it would be “a half-miracle” if Lookman regains full fitness before the game.
La Dea have dropped in performance in the last two months. They currently sit sixth on the Serie A table, four points behind the UEFA Champions League qualifying spots.
They play a Roma side that has won their last three Serie A fixtures and look good to finish in one of the Champions League spots.
A victory for Atalanta would help in their pursuit of top-tier continental football. Coach Gian Pero Gasperini would hope that Lookman returns to action soon as they look to end the season on a high.
