“He has a killer instinct” – Ex-Arsenal ace Petit says Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is perfect for PSG

The Nigeria international is on course to win his first club honour with Napoli as the Neapolitans cruise toward a historic Scudetto title

Former Arsenal and France midfielder Emmanuel Petit has given his approval for Paris Saint-Germain’s potential move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian international has been linked with a move to PSG, among other reports of him heading to the English Premier League.

PSG could, however, be attractive to Osimhen as the striker worked well with manager Christophe Galtier when they were both at Lille, with the Frenchman reportedly keen to bring him to the Parc des Princes.

Speaking to RMC Sport (as per TMW), Petit praised Osimhen’s qualities and said he would be a perfect fit for PSG’s needs.

What was said?

“(Osimhen) has become the third-best player in terms of goals/minutes in the history of Serie A,” said Petit. “He is having an amazing season; he improves every year. He has incredible qualities, which PSG desperately need.”

Petit went on to highlight Osimhen’s physical presence in the box and his clinical finishing as reasons why he would be a valuable addition to PSG’s attacking options. “He has a killer instinct. He’s the first to put pressure; he’s a mastiff at getting the ball back when he loses it,” added Petit.

Victor Osimhen on Super Eagles duty

Osimhen joined Napoli in a big-money move from Lille in 2020, and after struggling in his first two years, the 24-year-old has come alive this season.

The former Sporting Charleroi star has scored 21 Serie A goals and notched five assists and is on course to become the first African to win the top goalscorer award in the Italian top flight.

Osimhen’s phenomenal showing has seen him being linked with moves to Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Arsenal, but PSG’s interest could see him return to France.

PSG are currently on course to retain their Ligue 1 crown, but the Parisians have yet again been dumped out of the UEFA Champions League in the knockout rounds.

They are expected to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window as they aim to reclaim the domestic title and challenge for the continent’s premier club honour.

Meanwhile, a PSG legend and former Nigerian midfielder has revealed his admiration for Victor Osimhen, insisting that the youngster is worthy of applause.
