Taiwo Awoniyi has five goals in 25 appearances for Nottingham Forest this season
Former Brighton star, Adam Virgo, sprinkled Nigerian international, Taiwo Awoniyi, with accolades after Wednesday night’s victory against Brighton.
The difference in Nottingham Forest’s fight to stay in the English Premier League came at the City Ground Stadium, where two goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Danilo, as well as a Pascal Gross own goal, were crucial.
Virgo, who was co-commentating for BT Sport, recognised that Steve Cooper’s team did a commendable job of outlasting a tenacious Brighton & Hove Albion team, but he singled out the Super Eagles striker regardless of not scoring.
In the 38th minute of the game, Facundo Buonanotte gave the visitors the lead. The Tricky Trees then had a huge stroke of luck as Renan Lodi received the ball as a result of some excellent build-up play. He sent a shot across the goal, and Gross deflected it into his own net to tie the game.
MLodi ultimately gained control of the ball thanks to Awoniyi’s physical prowess. Following that, Virgo was quite pleased with the player.
“They’ve had to work hard for this. You don’t care how it goes in. What I would say, is Taiwo Awoniyi does so well. He holds that ball up and tees up Renan Lodi brilliantly.” he stated on the show.
The Nigerian ace will be hoping to lead his team to victory when they visit the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.
