Can Orban lead the Europa Conference League scorers’ chart like Boniface in Europa League?

The Nigerian has five goals for Gent in the Europa Conference League

The Nigerian attacker, Gift Orban, has scored five Europa Conference League goals for KAA Gent since his move from Stabaek Fotbal at the end of the January transfer window.

The Nigerian star is currently ranked ninth on the list of the top 10 scorers, and like his fellow countryman Victor Boniface, he only needs one goal to take the top spot.

Since joining the Buffalos during the winter transfer, the 20-year-old has been outstanding for the Belgian team, scoring 14 goals in all 13 appearances.

Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s team defeated Basaksehir 4-1, and the former Bison attacker scored a hat-trick within five minutes to help his team advance to the tournament’s quarterfinals.

Although the Nigerian was expected to lead his side to victory against West Ham United thanks to his goal-scoring prowess, but the bicycle kick opportunity he had could not yield a goal.

However, Hugo Cuypers, who shares Orban’s 5-goal total on the Europa Conference League scorers’ chart, and Danny Ings scored goals to give both clubs a share of the spoils.

On Thursday night against Bayer Leverkusen, Union SG star Boniface extended his goal total to 6, tying Marcus Rashford for first place on the Europa League top scorers’ chart.

Similar to Boniface, Orban needs one or two goals to overtake Fiorentina’s Luka Jovic for the top scorers’ spot when his team travels to England for the second leg of their two-match tie against the Hammers. Orban is anticipated to play a significant role in his club’s advancement to the Semifinal.
