Prince Adegoke is a young Anglo-Nigerian goalkeeper, currently signed with Chelsea, who is attracting interest from several English clubs, including Nottingham Forest, Stoke, and Leicester City.
Born on November 3, 2003, in Farnborough, England, Adegoke is just 19 years old and is considered a promising talent in English football.
Adegoke joined Chelsea as an Under-13 goalkeeper and has since risen through the ranks at the club. He has spent most of the 2021/22 season sharing goalkeeping duties with Ted Curd, but he was the main keeper in a run to the FA Youth Cup semi-finals, with a notable performance against Blackpool.
In October 2022, Adegoke trained with Stoke, but he picked up an injury, which led to the Potters cutting short the arrangement.
At the start of the 2022/23 season, Adegoke spent a few weeks on loan for the first time at National League South side Welling United but returned to Chelsea in August.
Adegoke’s contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the current season, and several English clubs have shown interest in him.
Nottingham Forest is one of the clubs that have expressed interest in signing the young goalkeeper, given their precarious situation with their current goalkeepers on loan.
Still, Leicester City could be the first club to make a move by inviting Adegoke to their training ground for a trial next week and are keen to try and sign him ahead of next season.
Despite the interest from other clubs, Adegoke is considered a talented goalkeeper and a valuable asset to Chelsea.
However, it is unclear whether Chelsea intends to renew his contract. If not, Nottingham Forest and other clubs may have a chance to secure his signature in the summer.
Regarding his career statistics, Adegoke has played in several competitions, including the U18 Premier League, the FA Youth Cup, the U18 Premier League Cup, the PL2, and the National League South. He has won trophies such as the U18 Premier League and the U18 Premier League Cup.
Adegoke has not played for any of England’s youth teams and could be an option for the Flying Eagles ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be hosted by Indonesia in May.
It would be recalled that the Nigeria national U-20 team conceded two goals in six games en route to clinching the bronze medal at the recently concluded Africa U20 Cup of Nationa in Egypt.
In conclusion, Prince Adegoke is a young Nigerian goalkeeper with enormous potential, and his future in English football looks bright. Several clubs are currently vying for his signature, and it remains to be seen where he will end up. However, his performances so far indicate that he is a player with a bright future ahead of him.
