“People must talk” – Former Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa rips against critics on Super Eagles retirement

Since making his debut in 2010, the Nigeria Super Eagles player has netted 16 goals. With four goals, he is Nigeria’s leading scorer in the World Cup.

The captain of the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa, has blasted critics who want him to retire from the Super Eagles squad.

The former CSKA Moscow forward has drawn criticism following his recent call-up to the Super Eagles squad by Jose Peseiro.

Yet, the Nigerian football community is adamant that one of the current Nigerian players doing extraordinarily well in their clubs should take Ahmed Musa’s place in the Portuguese’s 23-man squad list.

The 30-year-old, however, has stated that he would conclude his career in international football if the national team coach stopped inviting him to play for the squad.

Speaking to reporters at the Super Eagles news conference, the Jos native stated that he was being invited, since the squad still needed his expertise and skills.

“In as much as I am being invited by the coach and my body can carry me, I will continue to play for Nigeria.

“The coach who invited me knows better, and as a patriotic Nigerian, I can’t decline my national team’s invitation after so much sacrifice.

“I don’t listen to those who are clamouring for my retirement. I remain focused on my career. Whoever is invited, people must talk, so, why should I listen to their comments.” he said.

When Nigeria’s Super Eagles play Guinea-Bissau at Moshood Abiola Stadium, the Super Eagles skipper is anticipated to earn his 107th Nigerian international appearance.
