Musa, Oshoala, and others react as Kenneth Omeruo celebrates his 60th cap for Super Eagles

The late Stephen Keshi handed the Super Eagles defender his call-up to the national team

Kenneth Omeruo has been joined in honouring his 60th appearance for the Super Eagles by Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala, Salernitana defender William Troost-Ekong, and Israeli-born John Ogu.

The Nigerian defender was overjoyed as he celebrated his 60th appearance when the Super Eagles of Nigeria went to the Stadium Nacional 24 de Setembro to exact revenge for their defeat to Guinea-Bissau at home.

The former Middlesbrough player earned his Super Eagles debut in January 2013 under the late Stephen Keshi’s tutelage, after making a few appearances for the Nigeria U-17 and U-20 men’s national teams.

With a burning desire to get all three points in Bissau, the former Chelsea star led Jose Peseiro’s team as captain.

During the game, the 29-year-old gave the Super Eagles’ defence a little more sweetness by partnering Semi Ajayi in the middle of the defence with Bright Osayi-Samuel and Zaidu Sanusi on the wings.

Simon Moses converted from the penalty spot with precision to give Nigeria the victory, and the defender shared a post to his social media feed to mark his 60th appearance for Nigeria since his debut.

He wrote,“Privileged to have played my 60th cap for the Super Eagles. All glory to God for the victory.”

Ahmed Musa, a Sivasspor forward, commented on his post by writing, “Congrats Mate, more to come amen”

Troost-Ekong, the vice-captain of the Super Eagles, also praised him and said, “Congrats Uncle K”

The striker for Barcelona Femeni, also responded to the post by saying, “You sabi (know) this thing, eh. My central”

Maccabi Kabilio Jaffa midfielder, congratulated him as well and asked, “Congratulations my bro . But where you Dey fly go the first and second slide?”

Since making his debut in 2014 as a central defence for Nigeria, the 2013 champion of the Africa Cup of Nations has only scored one goal and contributed two assists.
