The nine-time African champions are keen to make an impression at the Mundial later in the year
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have lined up two friendly matches against Haiti and New Zealand in April ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Australia and New Zealand.
The friendlies will be played at the Mardan Sports Complex, Antalya, Turkey, where the team will be based during the preparation phase.
The Super Falcons will first face World Cup debutants Haiti on April 7 before taking on co-hosts New Zealand four days later on April 11. These friendlies will be an opportunity for the team to test their strategies and tactics ahead of the prestigious tournament.
Randy Waldrum’s side, which is made up of a blend of experienced and young players, will be looking to build on their recent victory over Costa Rica, which ended a seven-game winless streak.
The Super Falcons are one of the most successful teams in women’s football on the African continent and will be hoping to make a strong showing at the World Cup.
The nine-time Africa Cup of Nations winners have been placed in Group A at the FIFA Women World Cup where they will face tough opponents Australia and Canada, as well as the Republic of Ireland.
The Super Falcons have a proud record in the Women’s World Cup, having reached the quarterfinals in 1999, and made it past the group stage at the last edition.
With a talented and determined squad, they will be aiming to go even further in 2023 and make their mark on the global stage.
