“He reminds me of Ronaldo” – Exceptional Super Eagles striker draws praise from former UEFA CW Cup winner

The Nigeria international has been one of the best strikers in the world at the moment and has been tipped to win the Ballon d’Or

Former Lazio and Torino goalkeeper and renowned football pundit Luca Marchegiani has heaped praise on Napoli’s striker, Victor Osimhen.

In an interview with ‘Sky Calcio Club‘, Marchegiani, who won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup with Lazio in 1999, expressed his admiration for the Nigerian international, calling him a game-changer.

According to Marchegiani, Osimhen has the ability to shift the balance of a game in favour of his team. The former Serie A winner went on to compare Osimhen’s impact to that of the legendary Brazilian striker, Ronaldo the Phenomenon, whom he considers to be one of the most decisive players in the history of football.

What was said?

“In my opinion, Osimhen is one of those players who shifts the balance,” Marchegiani said. “I adore Kvara, but he’s not there yet compared to Osimhen.

“I wrote to Fabio that I don’t remember such a decisive player since I’ve been following football, and he rightly reminded me of Ronaldo the Phenomenon. Then there’s Kvara; Spalletti has created a wonderful orchestra.”

Marchegiani’s comments come after Osimhen scored two lovely headers against Torino on Sunday to continue his impressive performances for Napoli this season.

The 24-year-old has scored an astonishing 21 goals and provided four assists in 23 Serie A appearances, helping Napoli to establish a 19-point lead at the top of the league table.

Osimhen has also been decisive for Napoli in the UEFA Champions League, with the former Lille lad netting three goals against Eintracht Frankfurt to help the Italians advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in the club’s history.

The Super Eagles striker’s exceptional has seen him being tipped to be a favourite to win the Ballon d’Or should Napoli go all the way to lift the Champions League.

Marchegiani also gave credit to Napoli’s manager, Luciano Spalletti, for creating a formidable team that has been performing exceptionally well this season.

With more performances like this, Osimhen could cement his place as one of the best strikers in the world.
