Can Victor Osimhen secure historic quarterfinal spot for Napoli when Frankfurt visit Maradona Stadium?

The Nigerian international scored one of the goals that broke the hearts of the fans of the German side in the first leg

Tonight’s match between Napoli and Eintracht Frankfurt at the Stadio Maradona in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash promises to be an exciting encounter.

Serie A leaders Napoli, who are unbeaten in their last 11 Champions League home games, claimed a 2-0 win in the first leg to be firm favourites to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in the club’s history.

That comfortable victory was engineered by goals from star striker Victor Osimhen and captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Osimhen has been in excellent form this season, having scored 22 goals in all competition so far.

The Super Eagles striker is one of the most prolific forwards in Europe and it would tske something special for Frankfurt to stop him.
With home advantage, Napoli will look to finish the job and book their place in the quarter-finals.

Eintracht Frankfurt, on the other hand, have a steep uphill task to climb. They will have to score at least twice and keep a clean sheet if they want to progress to the next round.

However, the German club will take inspiration from their Europa League heroics last year, where they won the trophy. They have also won by a three-goal margin or more on five separate occasions this season and have already scored more Bundesliga goals than throughout the whole of the 2021-22 campaign.

Eintracht’s only previous visit to Napoli ended in a 1-0 UEFA Cup win back in December 1994 – also at the last 16 stage, providing a positive omen for those who believe they can cause an upset.

Overall, Napoli is the favourite to win the match and progress to the next round. But Eintracht Frankfurt can be a dangerous team on their day, and they will look to put in a spirited performance to keep their hopes alive.
