Antwerp is searching abroad for talented players, and they have found their way into the Nigerian market for recruitment
Royal Antwerp FC has invaded the Nigerian market in an attempt to sign a potential talent named Victor Udoh.
The 18-year-old joined the Belgium Jupiler League team from Abuja-based Hypebuzz FC, following in the exact footsteps of some other Nigerian talent.
The Nigerian-based club has a history of transferring players to Belgian teams. For instance, last summer, they sold 18-year-old Flying Eagles forward Ahmed Abdullahi to the KAA Gent youth team.
This time, Antwerp is referring to Ghent’s strategy, as they have turned their attention to the Nigerian market in order to recruit a left back.
Udoh’s signing with the Great Olds was announced by Belgian Media outlet Voetbalkrant and also on social media by Naija Sports, who also posted a photo of the youthful star sporting a shirt bearing the number 60 on the back.
“Royal Antwerp F.C. in the Belgian pro league has completed the signing of 18year old Victor Udoh. Congratulations Udoh” reads the quote.
The Belgium outfit has not yet given the situation an official status on their club website, and another question is if he will be promoted to the first team right away.
If Antwerp makes the rumour official, the Nigerian youngster will accompany Alhassan Yusuf, who joined the Reds from IFK Göteborg in the summer of 2021.
The young player, who has previously competed for Nigeria’s U17 team in international competition, has an intriguing career ahead of him.
He was one of the players chosen by trainer Fatai Amoo for the U17 AFCON WAFU B qualifiers, which took place on January 5 and ended on January 10, 2021, in Lome, Togo.
