Supercomputer tips three Super Eagles stars to suffer relegation in Premier League

Due to their subpar performances, West Ham United, Leeds United, and Southampton are currently in the relegation zone.

Supercomputer FiveThirtyEight has forecasted that Southampton and Everton will suffer relegation from the Premier League this season.

Southampton have always been involved in the relegation dogfight in the last three seasons. Last summer, they added some young players in their bid to match up to their Premier League rivals.

Former Rangers man Joe Aribo joined the club for €7.1million, but he has done little to change Southampton’s fortunes. Rather, he has become a bench warmer in recent weeks.

The Saints have sacked two managers already this season. Ralph Hassenhutttl was let go just before the World Cup break, and Nathan Jones was sacked in February.

The club signed Paul Onuachu in January to add some bite to their attack, but he has fired blanks in his first two games.

However, he had a decent game when Southampton defeated Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday.

But despite their victory, they still wallow deep in relegation waters as they sit 20th in the Premier League, three points and a weak goal difference away from safety.

Everton are also in a similar situation, even outside the relegation zone. The Toffees barely survived the drop last season, but they have not improved. Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi has impressed this season, but his brilliance has been insufficient as they sit 16th on the log, one point above the relegation zone.

FiveThirtyEight, a supercomputer that uses statistics and data to simulate outcomes, has predicted that Southampton and Everton will not survive relegation this season.

It predicted that the Saints would finish 20th in the league this season with 33 points, while Everton would finish 18th with 36 points.

Southampton currently have 18 points after 23 games, while Everton have 21.
