The seven-time continental champions will lock horns with the East Africans after they finish as Group B winners
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will face the Ugandan U-20 national team in the quarterfinals of the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations ongoing in Egypt.
Uganda set up a date with the Flying Eagles, seven-time winners of the competition, after finishing as winners in Group B.
The Hippos drew goalless with South Sudan on Sunday evening at the Suez Canal Stadium to maintain their unbeaten run at the U20 Afcon.
Earlier in the competition, Uganda defeated the Central Africa Republic 2-1 and held Congo U-20 to a 2-2 draw to conclude their group stage campaign with five points.
After finishing Group B equal on points with Congo, lots were drawn, which placed the East Africans as the group leaders.
Uganda will look to make an impression similar to the one in the last edition when they reached the final before losing to Ghana.
However, in Nigeria, Uganda meet the team that has been the most successful at the championship.
The Flying Eagles are aiming for an eighth continental title in Egypt. That objective suffered an opening-day hiccup in the 1-0 loss to West African rivals Senegal.
But the Nigerian lads bounced back to beat hosts Egypt on matchday two and Mozambique’s Mambas on Saturday.
The clash between Nigeria and Uganda will kick off at 5 pm on Thursday, 2 March 2023, at the Cairo International Stadium.
