One-cap Super Eagles striker on the radar of Ukraine’s most successful club – report

Barely two years after leaving the Nigerian domestic scene, the astute goal poacher has become a hot cake in North Macedonia

FC Shkupi forward Sunday Adetunji could be set for a big-money move to Ukraine in the summer if reports coming from that country’s media are anything to go by.

According to Dynamomania, Ukraine’s most successful club, Dynamo Kyiv, are interested in 25-year-old Adetunji, and a move could be on the cards in the summer.

Sources informed Soccernet.ng that Dynamo Kyiv scouts were at the Titanic Sports Center in Belek to watch Adetunji’s Shkupi take on Lithuania’s Zalgiris in a friendly match on Saturday, February 11.

The former Enyimba International striker turned on the style in the encounter, scoring a hat-trick as Shkupi powered to a 4-0 win.

With Dynamo Kyiv desperate for attacking reinforcements in the summer, Adetunji could be the ideal signing for a remarkably low transfer fee.

Currently valued at 600,000 euros, Adetunji only joined Shkupi in August 2021 after spending years playing for Rivers United, Abia Warriors, Plateau United, and Lobi Stars in the Nigerian Professional Football League.

His first season at Shkupi was, however, spectacular as Adetunji’s goals fired the club to their first-ever league title.

Late last year, the Lagos-born forward was named the best foreign player in the Macedonian top flight.

Even before leaving the country’s shores, Adetunji’s brilliant performances on the local scene caught the attention of the handlers of the national team. He made his Super Eagles debut in a friendly against Mexico in July 2021.
