Plumptre has represented England at the youth levels, albeit she already represented Nigeria at WAFCON 2022.
The British-Nigerian defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, has discussed the Super Falcons’ readiness for the Revelation Cup in Mexico in 2023.
Soccernet.ng previously reported that the women arrived yesterday in Leon State, Mexico, for the FIFA women’s World Cup qualifying competition, with footage of the players participating in a workout session uploaded on social media.
The Nigerian Super Falcons’ optimism in winning the pre-World Cup competition is revealed by the Super Falcons defender, who joined the team to be closer to her family.
The Randy Waldrum’s girls were eliminated from the WAFCON Third-place match against the Shepolopolo of Zambia last year, and they have been working hard to make up for the defeat by doing well in a four-nation warm-up competition.
The squad will compete to the best of their ability, Plumptre said NFF TV after this.
In a brief video interview posted on the Super Falcons Twitter account, she said, “We prepare for every game knowing we are trying to win, and we will compete to the best of our ability to make sure we get the results,”
The 24-year-old has made nine appearances for Waldrum’s squad, but he has said that the group is prepared to play.
“I’ve prepared myself in the same way for every game, and we are ready to go.”
The Costa Rica-Columbia encounter will kick off the four-nation tournament on February 15. The Falcons will play the hosts Mexico on the same day.
