The Nigerian international has had no equal in the Italian top flight this term and he has been tipped to get even better
Former Napoli and Atalanta striker Guiseppe Savoldi has revealed his admiration for Victor Osimhen and the Super Eagles striker’s heading ability.
Osimhen has been unstoppable in Italy this season, scoring 16 goals to sit atop the Serie goalscorer chart ahead of Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez (12 goals) and Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman (12).
Five of Osimhen’s goals have been from headers, the second most of any player in Europe’s top five leagues behind Tottenham’s Harry Kane (7).
Osimhen even entered the record books last weekend when he climbed to a new height to nod home the first of his brace in Napoli’s thrilling 3-0 win at Spezia.
And ex-Italy international Guiseppe Savoldi, who was a renowned header of the ball in his prime, has confessed that even he was not as good as Osimhen currently is with his head.
The 1973 Serie A top scorer is convinced that Osimhen is already a complete forward and has tipped the former Lille lad to become the best striker in the business.
“Did I see myself again in Osimhen’s header against Spezia? Well a little, but the Nigerian is very good,” Savoldi said, as per Tutto Napoli.
“He knows how to find the perfect timing for the headers. He has great elevation, it didn’t surprise me, we’re used to these goals by now.
“Osimhen has incredible qualities, he manages to break evenly, a rare thing. He’s already a complete striker, he has good technique, and speed, he has time in the header.
“And he can still improve in the game with his back to goal when the opponents rely on him.
“He’s still very young he can only get better, he will become one of the strongest in the world.”
Despite being the toast of some of the biggest clubs in the world, Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis has made it clear that Victor Osimhen is not for sale in the summer.
