AFCON 2023 Qualifiers: Super Eagles to play Guinea Bissau in Morocco

The Super Eagles already have a comfortable grip on Group A, and they would be looking to seal their qualification in the next set of games

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play the away fixture of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea Bissau in Morocco.

Nigeria have a firm grip on Group A of the AFCON qualifiers, they beat Sierra Leone in Nigeria before thrashing Sao Tome and Principe on their own turf.

The Super Eagles play Guinea Bissau twice later in March, and winning those games could ensure they claim the ticket to Ivory Coast next year.

Nigeria first welcome the Djurtus at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, or the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo on the 20th before going away for the reverse fixture in a week.

However, according to a recent report by Morocco World News, instead of Guinea Bissau, the second leg will be played in Morocco.

This is because CAF did not approve any stadium in Guinea Bissau for the qualifiers. As such, they would have to make do with neutral venues. And Morocco have volunteered their stadiums.

Guinea Bissau will have to choose one of Casablanca’s Mohammed V Complex, Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah Complex, Grand Stade de Marrakech, Agadir’s Stade Adrar, Grand Stade de Tanger, and Grand Stade de Fez.

The Super Eagles have already played in Morocco once during the qualifiers. And it was against Sao Tome and Principe at Stade Adrar. Nigeria won the game 10-0.
